For the ED209 exam, you are asked to answer two questions, each from a different book from Books 1, 2 and 3, plus a compulsory essay on a chapter of your choice from the 5 topics covered in Book 4; you will be told what this question will be about half way through the course, and it can be applied to any of the topics. As you are not expected to revise all of the first three books, there are separate materials for each of them, with 3 separate booklets for Books 1-3. Each booklet contains chapter summaries, highlighting the main theories, research and issues covered in each chapter, together with suggested essay titles, and worked essay plans. Although the questions are chapter-specific, there is also a section on topics which recur in more than one chapter of the book, which you may find useful in expanding your answers. A sample from a chapter summary can be seen if you click ‘sample1’, and an essay plan at ‘sample 2’. For Book 4, there are 5 chapters, each covering a different topic; you choose one topic to prepare for the set question in the exam, so you would not need more than one of the booklets. I have produced a set of 5 booklets, one relating to each topic. Each booklet contains general advice on preparing for this question, a summary of the chapter, and summaries of the three associated papers which you are expected to cover in your answer. There is also a section on the issues raised in each topic, to help you select two extra research papers with relevant material which you are required to refer to in your answer. Each booklet costs £5, including p&p, and all are now available. With any order, there is also a small (free) booklet containing exam advice, focusing particularly on the ED209 exam. I have also developed additional online revision materials. These include activities like crosswords, fill-in-the-blanks, and so on, and are quite different and separate from the printed booklets; they need to be paid for separately. For details and some samples to try, please go to www.erikacoxrevision.com If you would like to order any materials, you will need to send me your order - contact details are on the home page – with a cheque, postal order or cash. The price includes p&p, but please add £1 outside the UK. I’m afraid I can’t accept euro cheques, but euros in cash at the current rate of exchange are fine – only one has ever gone astray, and that turned up later. Paypal is also possible, but you would need to add 25p per booklet towards their costs. Alternatively, if you need to make a bank transfer, get in touch and we can arrange details, though I would prefer one of the other methods if possible, as sometimes banks do not put a name on transfers (even if they say they will) and I then have to try to track down who the payment is from. We have two different kinds of revision materials for ED209. I am also running three separate weekend revision courses (residential or non-residential) for ED209. For details, please click ‘Revision Weekends’. Deleted dates These revision courses are run in parallel with DD307 courses being run by Linda Corlett, and DD303 courses run by Helen Kaye and Hayley Ness. For each course, the group will be small (around 25) to allow for more individual support for students. Linda and I have run these courses for several years, and the feedback we received from students encouraged us to repeat them this year. If you think you might be interested in coming, you will find a booking form under ‘Revision Weekends’ on the homepage. There are full details of the courses at: http://web.me.com/linda_corlett |
